Project Description

To answer basic questions of landscape performance, we pursue a practice of inquiry in which we seek to make the profession more evidence-based. It is not enough to simply claim that a project is “sustainable” without an examination of environmental metrics and performance monitoring. We collect data – environmental, social, economic – both to inform our design process and to make the case for green infrastructure solutions by quantifying their various benefits.

Site monitoring has become an integral part of our intern curriculum. Alongside project partners, we have conducted numerous studies and tests including reports on soil health, pollinator counts, green roof retrofits, and post-occupancy social surveys.
