El Merequetengue
Dónde está mi gente?

Innovation Lab
El Merequetengue
El Merequetengue is a collective. A managed, non-formal network, operating on the basis of enthusiasm, information and hope. We are our own agency.

We believe in diversity, in heterogeneity, in the tangible and intangible value of nature. We believe that governance affects the landscape, we believe in collaborative methods of work. We believe in change. We believe that through the landscape we discover alternatives to things that are not right. We believe in the value of our identity, and that of the cultures that preceded us in the places where we are.

We register actors and projects, we unite, we agglutinate dispersed capacities in Latin America. We exhibit the work of people who work separately, we facilitate alliances and collaborations. We keep alive a polyphonic conversation, we invite to create and propose new paradigms.

We have open and voluntary working groups. We operate in a deliberative manner, by consensus and with voluntary commitments. We organize regular meetings and gatherings.

Tertulias

BASE organized the first ever Latin American luncheon at the ASLA conference! We took this opportunity to come together and meet each other. During the luncheon we also had a presentation from Tierra Media Project and their LAF fellowship project about Making Space for Latine/x/a/o Voices in Search of New Definitions of Engagement with the Land. This first gathering was the birth of a collaboration that embraces all of Latin America and the inspiration to recognize and celebrate our voices in Landscape Architecture.
Big thanks to our lunch sponsors: mmcite, Old Town Fiberglass, ASLA NCC JEDI
