Project Manager/Landscape Designer

BASE Landscape Architecture is seeking an enthusiastic and talented landscape architect or designer with 5+ years of experience both developing and leading successful projects for our San Francisco, California office.  As a small, creative, and growing design firm, we undertake a broad variety of work, ranging from schools and multifamily housing to planning strategies for urban agriculture and community outreach. A position at BASE would offer an opportunity for creative collaboration, professional development, and direct involvement with an array of local projects.

 

Candidates will need experience preparing full sets of working drawings from concept through construction phases, a strong work ethic, excellent design skills, and a willingness to tackle tasks under their own initiative.

 

Position Responsibilities & Duties:

 

  • Lead multiple projects from conceptual design through construction observation, including coordination with sub-consultants and support staff.

  • Coordinate with and assist the design team in the production and delivery of presentation materials and design graphics.

  • Ensure accuracy of all documents and presentation materials communicating design and construction intent that reflects design integrity and graphic consistency of the firm’s standards.

  • Coordinate with team members, and communicate collaboratively with clients, consultants, contractors and agency officials as needed while exercising discretion, logistical skills, accountability, and independent judgement in the performance of duties.

  • Manage and coordinate project schedules, budgets, workflow, and anticipate required staff resources and delegate accordingly to meet project deadlines.

  • Attend job-site meetings, coordinate with contractors and consultants, and perform construction administration tasks

  • Prepare, coordinate and facilitate community engagement meetings both in person and online.


Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture

  • 5 years’ minimum professional experience, including project management

  • Can-do attitude and organized work style

  • Comfort working collaboratively and independently

  • Strong freehand illustration and rendering skills

  • Fluency with AutoCAD, Land FX, Bluebeam, Adobe CS, Sketch-up and Microsoft Office

 

Qualifications:

  • Solid design background, proficiency of graphic rendering skills, and a willingness to draw digitally and by hand

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to handle multiple projects and tasks concurrently, attention to detail

  • Knowledge of California plants and horticultural practices

  • Hands-on experience in project management, solid skills in site design and clear understanding of the design process

  • Proficiency in grading and drainage, construction materials, and construction details

  • Knowledge of accessibility code

  • Prior professional experience in the LARCH industry is a must

  • Ideal candidate has experience with public school educational spaces and parks
