Exhibition of the North Yaque River Basin
Santiago, Dominican Republic

Project Description
APEDI and Water Fund Yaque del Norte, in their effort to promote environmental education and watershed conservation, want to build a model of the Yaque del Norte watershed, including the river and its tributaries, dams, cultivated and urban areas.
BASE worked collaboratively with Saúl Abreú (APEDI) and Walkiria Estévez (Water Fund) to propose the conceptual design of the Water Park Pavilion and exhibition of the Yaque del Norte River watershed.
The conceptual design of the Water Park is an exhibition on the Yaque del Norte river basin along a route of approximately 500 meters. The design of the tour includes: 5 models at different scales representing the entire basin and 4 sections of the river: the headwaters (Pico Duarte), the urban part (Santiago), the agricultural part (Amina) and the outlet of the river into the Atlantic Ocean (Monte Cristi). It also includes 7 stations representing the dams and the main crops associated with the river: tobacco, banana, rice, coffee and campeche, and the mangroves. And a small canal representing the water cycle of the Yaque del Norte River.
