Project Description

In collaboration with the French American International School staff, BASE worked on the development of their new Early Childhood Center (ECC). The building layout forms two courtyards with separate play areas for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes.

BASE led a series of design workshops with school administration and educators to develop a program for the outdoor learning and flexible play areas based on the school’s mission, values, and curriculum. The play areas provide age-appropriate activity settings and elements to support children’s physical and social development. Features include sports and open play area, gardening boxes, sand and water play, play equipment for climbing, spinning, and balancing, small and large group gathering areas, and outdoor classrooms.
