Project Description

The Benicia Senior Housing project comprises approximately 110 units of affordable older adult housing across two sites in the heart of Benicia. The Civic Center location enhances a cultural hub that includes the Benicia Public Library and the Benicia Senior Center, and abuts the City Gym, Tennis, Pickleball and Bocce Courts, The James Lemos Swim Center and City Hall. Two buildings will provide housing and replace the senior center, flanking a new public promenade space that will include: outdoor spaces for library programming like talks, small performances, and outdoor classes; Senior center gathering areas for lectures, dancing, and other events, a public promenade for passive recreation, outdoor art exhibits, outdoor dining, and informal play.  A few blocks away the Scout site will provide housing and amenities including a community garden, gathering spaces, and outdoor dining under the dappled shade of new tree canopy.

We have completed several community engagement events at holiday markets, library events, and the farmer’s market, and received valuable feedback to incorporate into our application for entitlements.  We’re looking forward to taking this project into the next phase.
